Traveling the world I have often wonder why there are so many
slums
and why governments seem unable to deal with the problem. I discovered that in most instances people living in sub-standard
and slum housing are employed, have incomes, are paying rent to slum landlords and just want an opportunity to upgrade their
living conditions. However, in many developing countries developers and builders won't do anything because banks and financial
institutions don't have mortage lending programs for low income working families.
I developed a program that is actively creating change in Costa Rica, a country with some 272,000
families waiting for the opportunity to access better housing. This means demand exceeds supply in Costa Rica.
